Replacing your paddle board valve is fast and easy!
Please follow the steps below:
- Completely dry the area and leave it in a cool, dry place, away from heat and sun.
Heat creates thermal expansion and PVC has a relatively high rate of change, which means that the material around the valve will expand and tighten the valve area, causing the valve to be a lot harder to remove if the board is exposed to heat and/or sun. - Deflate the board.
Make sure the board is fully deflated by pressing the valve pin down to release all the air. For better results, you can use a hand pump, electric pump, on the deflate setting on your pump to remove all the air from the board. - Remove the air valve cap.
- In the repair kit, you will find a valve wrench. Insert it on the valve.
- Turn the wrench counterclockwise until you can remove the valve completely.
To avoid damaging the wrench, put a slight pressure on the dented head part with the palm of your hand. This will also give more leverage. Be careful not to apply excessive force to avoid damaging the board or the valve. Once it's loose, you should be able to unscrew it by hand. - Make sure that the inner part of the valve inside the board stays in place inside the board once you remove the air valve.
- Inspect the valve mechanism for any debris and wipe the part of the valve that remains in the board if need be.
Never put water inside the board, as this will create mold. - Insert the replacement valve into the valve opening on the board.
Make sure to align the threads to screw the parts securely. - Turn the wrench clockwise until the replacement valve is screwed completely.
- Test the new valve.
Inflate your SUP board to check if the new valve is securely in place. Use a pump and ensure there are no leaks around the valve. If you notice any air leakage, screw further with the wrench to ensure the valve is tightened in the opening.
