Frequently Asked Questions - Maddle Board SS24
In this guide, you'll find common questions and answers about the Maddle board SS24.
FAQ
What are the specifications of the Maddle board SS24?
You can find all the specifications and measurements of this product on its specifications article.
How to use the Maddle manual pump?
- Make sure the pump’s air intake valve located under the handle is closed. This will allow the pump to inflate during both up and down motion.
- Connect the hose to the OUT connector located underneath the handle. Use the pump for a few strokes to see if the pump seems to blow air. If it seems to suck air in, the hose is connected to the IN side, and you need switch the hose to the other side of the handle (OUT).
- Connect the pump’s hose to the air valve by pressing down and twisting the hose in a clockwise direction.
- Begin inflating the board using the handle in an up/down motion. It will be quite a workout to inflate your board, it is normal to feel a bit of muscle pain or fatigue by the time the board is fully inflated.
-
**Please note that even though the board will appear rock solid visually, the pump will not show a reading until you reach about 7 PSI**
a. The pump is not defective, you just have to keep going until the board is filled up to that level. Afterwards, you will be able to get a reading on the gauge. - Midway through inflation, or when you find yourself having difficulty inflating the board, twist open the air intake valve located at the top of the pump’s air chamber to turn it from double action (pushes air on the way up or down) to single action (pushes air on the way down only. This is usually recommended after 9 to 10 PSI.
- Keep pumping until your board reaches the recommended pressure level reading of 15 PSI.
- While we use high quality valves that are rated to go up to 20 PSI, we recommend inflating your Maddle from 15 to 18 PSI.
Most users will not see any differences between 15 PSI and 18 PSI, and 15 PSI will give you a very rigid feeling, without coming with additional pump time! - Once the board is inflated to 15 PSI, remove the pump’s hose from the air valve by twisting the hose’s tip counterclockwise.
- Close the air valve cap by turning it clockwise.
Do not touch the piston in the center of the valve, otherwise you risk deflating your board after all of your hard work!
How to use the electric pump?
Powerful Electric Pump (Max capacity - 20 PSI) :
- Connect the electric pump’s electrical cord to your car’s 12V outtake. If you wish to use your electric pump on the go, you may purchase the Maddle Portable 12V battery.
- Make sure the air hose is connected to the INFLATE side of the electric pump to inflate.
- Remove the valve cap of your maddle in a clockwise motion.
- Make sure the valve is closed (the pin is in UP position).
- Connect the electric pump’s air hose tip to the air valve by pressing down and twisting in a clockwise direction.
- Set the desired air pressure between 15 PSI - 18 PSI.
- Turn on the pump.
- Keep inflating until your board reaches a desired pressure level reading. The pump should stop by itself once fully inflated.
- You will hear a loud compressor noise once the board appears inflated initially. This is normal, the pump is not broken. The compressor is needed to increase the internal pressure to the required level.
**For safety and usage, make sure the board is inflated to 15 PSI rather than 1.5 PSI. :) - Once the pump has stopped, disconnect the pump from the air valve by twisting in a counterclockwise motion
- Once the pump has stopped, disconnect the pump from the air valve by twisting in a counterclockwise motion.
- Close the air valve cap by turning it clockwise.
You may connect the air hose to the DEFLATE side of the electric pump to deflate your board in an opposite manner once you’re done using it.
Compact Electric Pump (Max capacity - 16 PSI):
Our compact electric pump (orange and black) works similarly.
You may follow the steps above taking in consideration it does not have a deflate function and is capped at 16 PSI.
How to use your paddle?
- Insert the middle section of the Maddle Paddle in the lower section.
- Press on the metallic button to insert the middle section all the way in the lower section. Make sure
the metallic button pops out of the hole in the lower section. You should hear a clicking sound to know it is properly in place. - Make sure the paddle’s blade is curved away from the user when setting up your paddle and at all
times when using it. - Insert the handle (upper) section of your Maddle Paddle into the mid-section. Make sure the handle is angled away from the user. The ridge along the length of the upper part will prevent the handle from turning during usage.
- While standing up, set the tip of your Maddle Paddle on the ground. Adjust your Maddle Paddle’s length by pulling on the upper part of your Maddle Paddle. Raise your arm up and fold your wrist towards the front. Your wrist should fall over the t-grip (handle) while the paddle is touching the
ground. - Close the quick-release mechanism on the upper end of the middle part to lock desired height.
- If the lock is loose, open the quick-release mechanism and turn the clip clockwise and close it. Repeat this process until it is properly snug. If you cannot close it because it is too tight, turn the clip counterclockwise.
Will the paddle float in the water?
The paddle itself is not air-tight. As a result, it may float for a few seconds when dropped in the water, but it will quickly fill with water and start to sink, potentially getting lost. To avoid this, we recommend not leaving the paddle in the water when it is not in use. Instead, you can secure it under the bungee cord at the front of your board. This will ensure your paddle stays safe and accessible.
How to clean and dry your Maddle
Cleaning
- After using your Maddle, you should always clean each component of the product that was in contact with water.
- We recommend rinsing the product’s component with fresh water before using Maddle’s Paddleboard Cleaning kit to clean it. This product will not only clean, but also protect your board from UV light damages to a certain extent.
- You may also rinse the product’s components with fresh water before cleaning it with water and soap.
- It is also highly recommended to remove any sand / debris / particle from the Maddle Paddle junctions. Debris can find its way inside and make it hard to disassemble the Maddle Paddle.
- Also, to prevent cross contamination of microorganisms and bacteria, you must always thoroughly clean your product before using it on a different body of water.
*Please note that sand, rocks, saltwater and the sun will deteriorate the product over time. This is considered normal wear and tear and is not covered by the warranty.
Drying
- After cleaning your Maddle and all its components, it is necessary to dry the products, You can let them air dry, or to accelerate the process, pat them with a towel before letting them air dry.
- Never let water go inside of the board, whether by the valve or by a puncture in the PVC. This will create mildew and mold inside, which may damage your board.
- If you do not have the necessary equipment / space / time to clean your Maddle right after use, complete this process as soon as you can.
- Make sure to never leave your Maddle dry in the sun, as the sun’s heat can damage the board over time
*Please note that improperly dried products can cause the product’s print and dye to leak / transfer.
How to fold and store your Maddle board
- When you are done using your Maddle and approach shore, make sure you step off your Maddle before reaching water that is too shallow. This will prevent scratches and punctures.
- Carry your Maddle on the shore using the handles and lay it face down on a soft surface that will NOT scratch / puncture the board, such as sand or grass rather than rocks, concrete or pebbles.
- Open the fin mechanism and remove the fins. Leave it open to help clean the product.
- Refer yourself to the maintenance sections 1 and 2 below to clean and dry the products. It is important to let your Maddle board dry adequately before folding it and storing it away.
- *On a clean and dry surface, flip your board face up and open the air valve cap by turning counterclockwise. Press down on the air valve tip. Please be mindful that air rushing out of your board at 15 PSI will create a LOT of noise. Let it empty itself of air for a few minutes.
- Alternatively, you can use your pump, by connecting the hose to the OUT of your manual pump or the DEFLATE function on your standard electric pump (not applicable to the compact electric pump or the electric pump gun). This will allow you to completely empty the board.
- Once the board is empty, make sure the air valve is still open. Start by folding the front tip of the board on itself. This means the EVA grip will be inside the fold..
- Fold the board in about 7-8 sections while making sure it is not folded too tight. Folding the board too tightly may create creases in the EVA grip material.
- Set the air valve to the Closed position. Close the air valve cap. If you do not close the air valve before the final fold, the cap of the air valve will damage your EVA grip pad.
- Make sure the board and the accessories are dry before storing them in the backpack.
- Once folded, put the board in the travel backpack, along with the rest of the accessories. Tighten the sides of your backpack to ensure that your bag’s content is not moving around and to maintain an optimal center of gravity. This will also prevent your board from unfolding and keep it in place.
To continue shopping, go back to the product page.
- Make sure the pump’s air intake valve located under the handle is closed. This will allow the pump to inflate during both up and down motion.

Is there a weight limit?
Paddle boarding is an awesome workout. It’s fun, low-impact, helps with core strengthening and improving your balance, is great for beginners, and works all your major muscle groups while allowing you to enjoy the water. The best part is that you can load things like your cooler, speaker, and even your pet on board for a truly unique experience.
Before you embark on your paddle boarding journey, there’s something important you need to consider: just how much weight can a paddle board handle?Practical Weight Limit vs. Maximum Weight Limit
The maximum weight limit of a paddle board refers to the absolute maximum amount of weight it can carry while still staying afloat. But if you load the SUP board to its maximum weight capacity, it becomes unsafe, will perform poorly, and may even capsize.
This brings us to the practical weight limit which is the maximum weight the SUP board can hold without affecting its performance on the water—mainly its stability and maneuverability. The practical/performance weight limit is usually 75% of the maximum weight limit.
Let’s say you buy a Maddle board with a maximum weight limit of 350 lbs. Technically, you can load 350 lbs on the paddle board, but it’s just not practical as it will be harder to maneuver —not to mention, unsafe—when you’re out in the water. So, you should only load up to 260 lbs, which is its practical weight limit.
It’s important to consider both weight limits before choosing a stand-up paddle board to ensure that you don’t exceed the SUP weight capacity by accident. This is especially important if you want to go tandem paddle boarding, as you will want a board that can handle the total weight of multiple paddlers.
Here’s a helpful table with a few examples:Maximum Weight Limit Practical Weight limit 800lbs 600lbs 550lbs 410lbs 350lbs 260lbs But why is a paddle board’s weight capacity even important? Because if you choose an SUP that isn’t able to handle the combined weight of your body plus your gear, you run the risk of toppling over. You’ll also find it harder to paddle. So, finding a paddle board with the right weight capacity is crucial for your safety as well as for your paddle boarding experience.

Are Maddle boards good for yoga?
Absolutely! Our boards are rigid enough to provide ample stability for yoga practices. The foam grip also gives sufficient support for a comfortable yoga session. :)
What you’ll need for SUP yoga
Good weather: For the best SUP yoga practice, you’ll want to go paddling when the weather is nice and on a calm body of water.
Proper clothing: Be sure to wear clothing that’s appropriate to the weather and that’s easy to move in. Athletic wear or a comfortable bathing suit is usually best.
SPF: Always wear SPF if you’re going to be in the sun for an extended period of time and away from shade. Remember that sunlight is reflected off the water, so during paddle board yoga, you’re getting sun exposure from both above you and below you.
The right kind of paddle board: You’ll want to do SUP yoga on an inflatable board with a large enough surface area. Inflatable paddle boards are more stable than solid boards. Look for an inflatable SUP that’s around 32 inches wide and 10'6 feet long with a soft deck pad. A soft deck pad makes the board a more comfortable platform to do SUP yoga on.
An anchor: A paddle board anchor helps to keep you in place and stops you from floating away while practicing your SUP yoga.

Can I Maddle with my dog?
Yes, you can definitely bring your dog with you on board!
Simply make sure that your pet is comfortable and train your pup beforehand to do it safely. Some dogs may feel stressed on water outings, especially if it's their first time riding a paddle board.
To ensure that there’s enough space for you and your furry companion to stand and move around, you need to look for paddle boards that are wide and long. Look for a board that’s at least 10’ long and 32” wide, which is enough to fit most dogs, including large ones, and even multiple dogs.
You’ll also need a stand-up paddle board that can accommodate the combined weight of you, your dog, and all your gear.
A life jacket for your dog is always essential when you’re on the water. Some dog breeds tire out quickly, some get overheated in the sun, and some simply can’t swim very well. So, in case your dog jumps or falls into the water, a life jacket will give them some extra buoyancy till you can bring them back on board!
